Let The Drinking Begin
We had plans today. But it's Friday in Prague, and about a million other people had the same plans. Especially since we didn't get moving until noon. We wanted to get to the Castle and to the Jewish Cemetery, but we didn't want to fight the throngs. We'll try again tomorrow, but much, much earlier.
The good news is, we got some much-needed rest and some solid sleep.
When we finally got moving, food was of the first order. We waded through several tour groups to cross the Charles Bridge. That put us on the castle side, but further away from a lot of the tourists in the Old Town.
Czechia - much like its neighbors Germany and Austria - is chock full of sausages, big hearty meat dishes, potatoes, and pickles. Yes, please. We found a place called Art & Food. Art on the walls? Check. Food? Czech. (Yeah, you see what I did there?) Better still, they have over 30 beers at any given time...all local. Picture me interlacing my fingers, stretching out my arms, and cracking my knuckles in anticipation. We were not disappointed.
After stuffing our faces with sausages and chicken, a selection of cheeses, and some really good local beers, our server offered us some of the local digestive. Mine was a sweet sherry-like concoction; Joe's was 50% abv grappa-like jet fuel. And, yes, he drank every drop. Every. Drop.
Next we went across the street to the Prague Beer Spot for a couple of flights. While there, Joe noticed one of our friends on Untappd (beer app that's like facebook for beer drinkers) had just checked in a beer at the Prague Beer Spot. We looked around and noticed a guy at the bar also looking around. Yep. Today we met an Untappd friend from New Jersey in a bar in Prague. Such a small world.
We were getting hungry again (can you believe it?), so we walked back to old town to the Prague Beer Museum. We caught another beautiful sunset from the bridge.

Prague is loaded with statuary, but no place more than on the Charles Bridge (standing since 1357). In the short span across the Vltava River - just over 2,000 feet - the pedestrian-only crossing hosts 30 statues, mostly religious figures, but also knights, and notable folks of the time. There are gates at either end and a lovely view from the center.
Totally surreal - there was a Dixieland band playing "Georgia On My Mind."
Looking back from the castle side.

NSFW!!
My sausage dinner at the Beer Museum. It didn't really look NSFW when I snapped it, but on second look...
Back at the house it's time for some zzzzs. Tomorrow IS another day, and we have the castle on the agenda. Fingers crossed!
